Getting older again..... Well, it's another of those things you can't control. Like the weather or the neighbors loud children playing late at night on a trampoline. But it doesn't hurt. Now that I am closer to 40 than 30 things seem to change a little. I won't get into details, but some things take longer and some seem to pass quicker.
So what did i do for my birthday? Not much, as usual. We wanted to go out for dinner, so we picked a nice spot (Mr. Yum) and asked if any friends were available to join us. Just after 8pm we the 5 of us drove past the restaurant ... not intentionally, but it is not very flashy on the outside. A quick lap around the block later we spotted the parking lot.
I could yak on about the place, food and such, but all I really need to say is, it was very nice. For some strange coincidence however, there seemed to be at least 3 other birthday parties happening as we all got our deserts with a little candle. That ruined MY SPECIAL DAY!!! Just kidding, of course. But it might indicate that it's a b-day hotspot! Is your's coming up? You know were to go if you like sushi and Thai food. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

ARGH, the anticipation is killing.....
Nah, not really. So Rosie had another checkup. All is going well and she will have an ultrasound in 3 weeks. As I understand, that's the last one she gets and it will be when they perform many many tests, take measurements and can tell us if it's a boy or a girl. Does it matter to us, you ask? Do we want to know? No, it does not matter, but yes, we'd like to know. Isn't that what most parents-to-be say? You hear "...it makes things easier", "...then we can paint the room...", "...friends want to know, so they can buy a present..." etc etc.
I am not going to the clichés saying "All I want is a healthy baby", "...as long as it has 10 fingers and toes...", "...I hope it looks more like the mum...", "...if it has my height, ...." etc etc. That all sucks! There is no choice. The baby will look as it does - please no ginger hair!! ;-) -and the rest can't be manipulated.
So we are looking forward to the ultrasound and I will watch in amazement how the belly grows.

What else is new?
So ... Rosie is still pregnant. Apparently it takes a lot longer than she would like ;-) Yet, we don't have any news to report. We should find out if it's a boy or girl in about 2 weeks, then we can start fighting about names. Oh joy!
Rosie hasn't complained about feeling sick recently, so I think that's settled now. A very slight baby bump can be noticed, but you have to get pretty close - and intimate ;-) - to see it.
What else....
The house hunt is on! I guess we decided against an apartment in a condominium and are going for a 3 bedroom house instead. (Even though the penthouse we saw on Coral Way was VERY nice!) The prices are approximately the same, but you get the extra privacy. Of course other costs will have to be considered, but we are confident we can stay in our budget. Since we didn't have money to spare, we didn't invest in the market and hence have no losses.
Being poor DOES have advantages! And so does a recession proof job.
